Your TICA Committee made a decision at our last meeting to add a new name to those whom TICA have honoured by asking them to become Honorary Life Members of the Association. The Committee decided to invite Roger Geraghty to become an Honorary Life Member, and I am delighted to say that Roger has accepted.
Our only HLM up till then was Dave Miley, Executive Director of Development at the ITF. The late Aidan Bradshaw, who sadly passed away last year, was the only other coach granted this status since the founding of TICA in 1992.
Roger is of course one of the best known faces in Irish coaching. He has held the position of Director of Development with Tennis Ireland for a number of years, and has racked up more than 30 years in the tennis industry. Coaches and coaching have always been to the forefront of Rogers thinking when he is formulating policy for Tennis Ireland and for Irish tennis. It is for this career long commitment to coaches, what we do and how we do it, that TICA are delighted to confer on him Honorary Life Membership.
On a personal note, I have known Roger for the best part of those 30 years. I have never heard him be less than very enthusiastic when coaches and coaching are discussed. He is always open to talking to, advising and guiding coaches – anywhere and any time.
TICA would like to make a special presentation to Roger to mark his Life Membership at our Annual Conference. In the meantime, if you are in contact with Roger do please offer your congratulations to someone who I am sure you will agree has really made a difference to tennis coaching in Ireland.
All the best,
