What a start to 2010 – it is a long time since we have seen so much snow in Ireland. Not exactly ideal coaching weather… We were lucky that it came during a period when most coaches are engaged in the off court process of planning the year ahead, or perhaps just having a well-earned rest!
I guess the highlight of 2009 from a TICA point of view was the success of the National Conference. The new one day format, the high quality of Rob Antoun`s presentations and the fact that the temperature in the stands was (for a change!) above zero degrees all added up to an enjoyable and worthwhile experience, judging by the reactions I have had from many delegates. We intend to keep the 2010 National Conference in the same one-day format. Planning for the next conference will, believe it or not, start shortly and I will of course keep you updated as the details come together.
Following the Conference in November, the following Committee was put in place at the AGM to take the Association forward through 2010: Chairman: Liam Cassidy. Treasurer: Paul Murphy. Committee Members: Garret Barry, Alan Beaddie, John Brady, Peter Farrell, Stephen Garvin and Ronan Ryle.
We hope in the near future to co-opt onto the committee a Munster based coach. The new committees focus is on how to deliver better services and value to all our members, in order to better serve members interests and the interests of tennis as a whole.
Looking forward to working with you all throughout 2010.
All the best,
