Coach Communication Newsletter March 2010

Over the next few weeks the Tennis Ireland Roadshows will take place. I am looking forward to getting to each province to work with as many coaches a possible in relation to ITN training. If you would like to register as a Tennis Ireland ITN Assessor, please come along to the session in your province – details are at (see `To Whom It May Concern` on the home page). Please email me at the address below to let me know that you will be there, if you wish to attend the Assessor Training.

As you know, Tennis Ireland intends to set up a National Player Database, and the details of this development will be presented and discussed from 7pm to 9.30pm at each venue. As a coach, it is important that you know what is going on in this regard, as your club may well look to you to give advice and take action on this project. This session is for coaches and club officials.

Parents are not being neglected in all of this! A lunchtime session (12pm to 2pm) will be held at each venue, presented by Roger Geraghty and the Regional Development Officer. You can download invitations for parents of your younger (aged 5-10) pupils from The idea is to make parents aware of the latest developments in the game in relation to the new ITF Programme `Tennis 10s`, and the upcoming change to the rules proposed by the ITF. At this meeting the importance of coaches and coaching will be heavily stressed.

TICA is working closely with Tennis Ireland to make these Workshops a success. We are offering 33 points under the Continuous Professional Development Programme 2010 for coaches who attend – all the details of this are in my email to you of February 18th.

Hope to see you there!

All the best,
