Tennis Coach Ireland would like to congratulate long-term member Owen Casey who received this new award at Saturdays Davis Cup match between Ireland and Estonia at David Lloyd Riverview. This award was conceived as part of the ITF’s 2013 Centenary celebrations, and is presented to Davis Cup players who have shown long-standing dedication to representing their country. Each award recipient has competed in a minimum of 20-home-and-away ties or 50 ties at any level of the competition (including Zone Group events) over their career. Only 299 players will receive this award worldwide. Owen is in great company here, as fellow recipients include LLEYTON HEWITT, GORAN IVANISEVIC, THOMAS BERDYCH, ANDRE AGASSI, JOHN MCENROE, ANDY RODDICK , BJORN BORG AND STEFAN EDBERG.


Balanced Action ( are pleased to announce their new and improved workshops and introduction to the “FootTech Training Programme”  We have broken down the complex skills of tennis into their teachable parts and focus on tennis specific footwork patterns and movement.  We show coaches HOW to apply these skills to ALL levels of player from grass roots to Pro’s.  The day will definitely give you more confidence in delivering your coaching sessions and you will quickly see the results of how your players hit the ball! DON’T FORGET… the other CPD course currently on offer is the online course from (full details were sent to you on January 11th). As you know, we have changed the CPD Programme this year to allow members maximum flexibility in developing their own programme. Coaches need 100 points in 2013 in order to qualify for a Tennis Ireland License and best rate TCI Public Liability Insurance in 2014. Full details of CPD 2013 are on the home page following log in.

Also, Tennis Coach Ireland is currently planning our Provincial Workshops, which will happen in April/May, and will carry 25 CPD points. More information as soon as it is available.


The Coach and Talent Development of Tennis Australia has announced the launch of its new technique app for iPad and iPhone. The Tennis Australia Technique App is designed to present appropriate technical models for 5 – 12 year olds through to adult players. The App offers an analysis platform that is easy to use and in real time. For more information on this exciting new app, please click here.


The International Tennis Federation is looking a coach for the position of ITF Development Officer for the Caribbean region. Applications should include a cover letter stating why you feel you would be suitable for this position and an up-to-date C.V. The application deadline for this position is the 4th March 2013. We intend the successful applicant to start the position no later than 1 May 2013.
