UNDER 8 EVENTS (Red Court) at BECTIVE LTC

The very successful Red ball and Red court events for players aged 8 and under, run by John Brady, recommence in Bective LTC on Sundays 21st and 28th July. These are fun competitions and will cater for players who are not part of the present competition system. They aim to introduce children to competition, and will enable children to learn the rules of the game and promote sportsmanship as part of playing and enjoying the game of tennis. The tournaments will appeal to children up to 8 years of age. There will be appropriate prizes for all participants. Entry forms can be downloaded from www.tenniscoachireland.ie.

From a coach’s point of view, I am convinced that it is a good move to encourage our young pupils to take part in events such as this. Players attend coaching in order to be better able to play the game. When they play the game in an appropriate competitive environment, they learn about what they need to improve next, so they are motivated to continue to attend your coaching. I am hoping that you will pass the details on to the parents of your pupils who you feel would benefit from the experience.

A MESSAGE FROM PAUL CASEY (CPD Course)

“If like me, you work with juniors and adults of all levels and ages, I have exciting news. As the Official Irish Tutor for the Modern Tennis International Method, I am organising a Play Modern Tennis (MTI) Day Coaches Training Course in Glenageary LTC, Dublin on Monday 19th and Tuesday the 20th August 2013 (9.30am to 1.30pm).

Please see www.playmoderntennis.com for some background info on the method and much more. The strokes covered will be the serve, return of serve, forehand and two-handed backhand. This innovative method is so SIMPLE and rewarding, you will be amazed at how quickly your students will improve, regardless of their current age or level. All the coaches who attended last year’s course have expressed their satisfaction with the system and the results achieved. They use the term “tennis in minutes” to describe the speed of learning.

It’s my experience that coaches are looking for ideas that they can put into action tomorrow with as MANY students as possible. The method you will learn is very user-friendly and FULLY utilises the Play and Stay philosophy, along with the Buddy Coaching System as advocated by Dave Miley of the ITF.

This Course is IDEALLY SUITED TO: Tennis Ireland Level 1 and 2 coaches, and Directors of Tennis, looking for a programme that enables your coaches to implement a simple and effective Teaching Method.

If you were to go to England to do this course it would cost over 400 euro all things considered, so… E175 for 8 hrs hours of the most enlightening, innovative tennis teaching methods I have come across in my 25 years of teaching tennis is great value! To reserve a place there is a deposit of 100e. Places limited to 16 coaches. So please e mail me at paulcasey72@hotmail.com or text 087 677 0573 to reserve a place and/or if you have any questions you would like answered before committing”.

NOTE: Tennis Coach Ireland will credit any member attending Paul’s course with 25 points under CPD 2013.
