Coach News 11.11.13

Dear Member,

Below please find the latest news from Tennis Coach Ireland. Let me know if you have any news, comments or suggestions of your own that you would like to share with other members.

All the best,

INTERESTED IN WRITING ABOUT TENNIS?

At our National Conference, keynote speaker Paul Banks emphasized the importance of a coach having an online presence. If you are interested in boosting your profile on the Internet, here is one option: For some time I have been writing articles on “how to improve your game”. Now Tennis Ireland has collected all the articles in one place, and have just started a new section on the TI website called ‘Play Better Tennis’, which you can find at http://goo.gl/9gduY7. Any coach is welcome to submit an idea for an article to be published on this page. Please drop me a line with an outline of your proposed article and I will get in touch with you.

SUBSTITUTE WORK

I sometimes receive urgent requests from coaches who need someone to assist or replace them for a short period of time, perhaps due to illness or holidays. I would like to draw up a register of members who might be interested in these short-notice work opportunities. If you would like to be notified of these possibilities, please drop me a line to let me know, and I will put your details on our new register of coaches who are interested in these opportunities.

UPCOMING RED/ORANGE EVENT

A Red/Orange event is due to be held at the National Tennis Centre on Dec.1st. This might be a useful opportunity for some of your younger pupils to gain competitive experience in an indoor environment. For details see : http://goo.gl/W7FYhJ.

PARENTING

Parenting a tennis player is a challenging job! Do the parents of any of your pupils need some advice on what to do (and what not to do!)? See http://goo.gl/jpjxyh.

A NOTE FROM JOHN YANDELL

“To the Tennisplayer Community – take a break and visit us to be refreshed by the new issue! Some of the great minds in tennis are back! (and no I am not referring to myself…I’ve always been here…)” http://www.tennisplayer.net/public/new_issue/2013/november/

PLAYER DIGITAL DEVICE/SOCIAL MEDIA USAGE

What Social Media and technologies are your pupils using? This should impact on your marketing, advertising, and development plans. Get the summary here: http://goo.gl/QB87Z7.
