Dear TCI Member,

Below please find the latest news from Tennis Coach Ireland. We have held four Provincial Workshops recently on the subject of ‘The Coach and the Club’. Thank you to all members who attended – the results will help us to formulate TCI policy and priorities. One Workshop to go (Ulster) – see below for details. NATIONAL CONFERENCE 2015:This years TCI National Conference will take place on Sunday 27th September at the National Tennis Centre in DCU. I will be in touch soon with further details, but hope that in the meantime you will make a note of the date in your diary!

MEMBER NEWS: Congratulations to STEPHEN NUGENT – Leinster Tennis is pleased to announce the appointment of Stephen Nugent, Leinster Tennis is committed to the improvement of our junior players and we have decided to strengthen the resources we provide with the creation of this new role, which will include establishing stronger bonds and effective communication with our Leinster clubs, their junior coaches and Tennis Ireland National Coaches. Stephen will be reviewing, remodeling and implementing the Leinster 2015/2016 coaching programme designed for committed junior players of similar and suitable ability looking to get more out of their game.

UPCOMING CPD OPPORTUNITIES: This years Tennis Coach Ireland Ulster Provincial Workshop has now been scheduled, and details are as follows: Monday 22nd June, 7.45pm to 10pm at CIYMS Tennis Club, 91 Circular Road, Belfast. (map here:http://www.ciymstennisclub.co.uk/contact.asp). Attendance carries 25 points under CPD.

TALENT CAMP – BNP PARIBAS NATIONAL TENNIS ACADEMY: We are searching for talented players between the ages of 8-11 for a limited number of places that will be on offer from September 2015. These players will be given the opportunity to train in the Academy either twice or three times per week, depending on age. The players who are accepted into this new programme will also remain part of their club programmes and will continue to work with their individual coaches. We wish to host a Talent Camp where we will give players from all over the country the opportunity to train together. The Camp will consist of physical training, match play opportunities and technical evaluation. The camp will be coached by staff from the BNP Paribas National Academy and the Performance Director Garry Cahill will attend on the day. The camp will take place in the National Training Centre on Sunday 28th June. If you have a player or child that you think has what it takes please mailtara.congdon@tennisireland.ie on or before Friday 19th of June. Please include the players, name, date of birth, and the court that they currently train on (red, orange, green). The camp will be on a first-come first-served basis.

PROMOTE YOUR CLUB WITH A SHORT VIDEO! Only a few tennis clubs in Ireland seem to have made a short video to highlight their club and its members, and encourage new people to join. Making a short film has never been easier. It can be shot, edited and uploaded to YouTube, all from an iPhone. Below are links to some club videos I have found on YouTube. Each one has strong and weak points, but if you take the best ideas from each one, you will have a great template that you can use to advantage for your club.
