PROVINCIAL WORKSHOPS 2016: Attendance at any one of these events carries 25 points under CPD. If you would like to attend one of these Workshops, please text or email me your name and which venue you will attend at. This year we are teaming up with Tennis Ireland for a Workshop focusing on Club Development, including the new Secondary Schools Coaching Programme, presented by Olwyn O’Toole. Liam Cassidy’s presentation based on his recent Coaches Survey will provide a great opportunity for the coaches’ voice to be heard by both club reps and representatives of the governing bodies. Throughout the evening there will be opportunities for you to have an input into the debate. DATES AND VENUES: 1. LEINSTER – Thursday 21st April, 6.45pm to 10pm atDCU. 2. MUNSTER – Thursday 28th April, 6.45pm to 10pm at the Firgrove Hotel, Mitchelstown. 3. CONNACHT – Thursday 5th May, 6.45pm to 10pm at Castlebar LTC 4. ULSTER – Thursday 12th May, 6.45pm to 10pm at the House of Sport, Upper Malone Road, Belfast.

WOULD YOU LIKE TO COACH VISUALLY IMPAIRED PEOPLE?: Tennis Ireland and Vision Sports Ireland will shortly introduce ‘Vision Impaired Tennis’ to Ireland, for players who are blind or have significant vision impairment. The game is based on the player’s hearing and spatial awareness capabilities. The ball makes a sound when hit and when it bounces, and players can allow the ball to bounce up to three times. On May 20th at the Aer Lingus Sports Complex in North Dublin VI tennis will be introduced as a demonstration sport for blind/vision impaired players. Two of the leading vision impaired players from Britain will be there, and the event will provide a great starting point for coaches to learn some basics.
